Itasca is a lovely village in DuPage County, Illinois. It is located 25 miles west of Chicago. The first person to settle this neighbourhood was Dr. Elijah Smith in 1841. He was from New York and came here to continue his medical practices, and he also started farming in Itasca. The very first post office of the village was first established in 1846. Itasca was officially incorporated in the year 1890.
Demographics
The population of the neighbourhood is around 8,302 people, with 3,179 households, and 2,257 families settled in the village. The average income of a household in the village is $88,282 and for a family it is around $101,891.
Schools in Itasca
There is one elementary and one middle school in the city. For Higher education the students from Itasca attend The Devry Institute of Technology, the College Of Dupage, Elmhurst College and the William Rainey Harper College.
Transportation system
The major station for the commuters is Metra's Milwaukee District/West Line, which provides daily rail service at Union station between Elgin and Chicago. The city has access to the major junction of Interstate 290, Veterans Memorial Tollway, and the Elgin-O'Hare Expressway. The easy access to transportation makes it an important commercial area. Chicago O’ Hare International is used for international flights and its only few miles from the neighbourhood.

The famous restaurants of the city are Shula’s, Tree Guys Pizza Pub, Sergio’s Cucina Italiana, Buona Itasca, and De Marco’s.
Things to do
There are some great historic museums that include Guenther Gallery, the Itasca Historical Depot and the Highland Park Historical Society Museum. The city has many recreational spots for the residents and tourists that are The Pirate’s Cove Children’s Theme Park and the Rainbow Falls Water Park. The Cosley Zoo is interesting place for the children and it is nearby.
