West Chicago is a great community to live and visit. The community has some great education systems, a variety of housing options and friendly people that love their community. The city lies in Du Page county about 28 miles west from Chicago. Its also part of Chicago’s commercial area. Along with business there are many recreational opportunities and many historical places one can visit in the city.
Europeans first settled the city in 1830s. It was first named as Turner, which was changed to Chicago west in the year 1896. The city was officially incorporated in 1906.

According to the US census in 2010, the population of the city was recorded as 27,086 residents. The median income for a household is $63,242 and for a family its $65,744.
Education in West Chicago
The city has an award winning school system. The schools not only provide the quality education but also the variety of other extracurricular programs to the students. There are seven elementary schools in the city, two middle schools, and one high school. West Chicago also has many popular private schools as well offering quality education.
Transportation system
West Chicago has strong transportation network which makes it really easy to travel within the city and away from it. The city is served by Metra which connects it to Chicago. The Dupage Airport is also in the city, and it is considered as the third busiest airport of the state. The O’Hare International airport and Midway Airport are also nearby.

A great place to visit is Timber Ridge Forest Preserve which has great natural beauty. There are several exciting parks in the city where you can spend your time like Keppler Park. For families The Fox River Trolley Museum, Dupage Children’s Museum and Cosley Zoo are also good places to visit.
